TwinSteele Family of Electronic Drum Pedals

Very simply, twice as fast...
My pedals have:
-More than twice the speed of conventional pedals
-Much better control
-More dynamic range

-4 Characteristics that make these pedals different (and better):
  1. Low throw mass
  2. Short strokes
  3. An upstroke that turns one pedal into two, but only when you want it.
  4. A drag device that always returns the beater to top dead center, which kills beater oscillation and eliminates false triggering.

Quick Demo...

Play it!

There are some simple skills to learn with this instrument, as outlined in my instructional video below.
Note that the video was designed with absolute beginners in mind.

_ Beginner's guide to TwinSteele pedals

1. Raise your drum throne.
2. Pull the pedal in closer to you than you're used to.
3. If you had to pound a paperback book with the ball of your foot for two hours straight, what would be the most comfortable position for you? Put the block of your pedal there.
4. All motion comes from the hip, not the ankle.
5. Put some velcro where the stick hits your pads. Hook velcro on the bottom of the pedal works really well to stabilize it, if you have the right carpet underneath.
6. Do not wear shoes of any kind, flip flops, karate boots, water shoes, combat boots...absolutely nothing but socks (on your feet, that is).
7. Do not put any padding on the pedals.
8. Pound the block with the ball of your foot, and let your toes gently tap the downstroke pedal. You will learn the upstroke in time.
9. Get comfortable in each learning phase, then try the next (see “Play It” above). NO FALSE TRIGGERING!
10. Plan on being Bambi-on-ice for a few months. The pedal is very fast, and unforgiving of sloppy foot movements. Then suddenly you will realize what you've been missing with conventional acoustic pedals.
11. To slow everything down: put in a heavier beater stick, and/or pull the pads further from the beater. I play at about 1.25” between beater and pads (upstroke and down). Eventually, this is what you will want also.
12. This is a new instrument to learn. If after 3 months you decide that it's not for you, send the pedal back and I will give you a full refund. You will be the first one to return a pedal.

How can you get one?

I do make some custom pedals for private clients. A bolt-on kit for converting a Pearl Demon into a Speedslipper will be out shortly, which will be much less expensive. Please write me an email (mark.steele@Drumagination.com) if you are interested.
