Position your pads...
| Unhook the drag strap spring, and tap your pedal to find the true at-rest position. |

If you are just starting out, set each of your pads roughly 1.5 inches from the striker stick. As you get better and want more speed, start moving the pads closer. Remember, speed means nothing without control.

Position your pedal...
You will probably want this pedal closer to you than a conventional pedal. Keep in mind that you will trigger the upstroke by lifting your foot; this is awkward if your leg is stretched out too far. I play at 17 inches (measured from the back edge of my pedal base to the center post (not the leg) of my throne). I'm tall, so 13 to 17 inches will probably be a good place to start for the average player. See what feels most comfortable for you!![]() |
Tie the lanyards...
|
Yup, there are no spikes to keep this thing from sliding into the front row of your audience. I use this method because
it never fails... you could set up on ice and always have the pedal positioned perfectly. Just tie the world's simplest
knot in both of the lanyard ends to set the distance and angle of the pedal. Yes, you only need one knot! |
